Bills of Attainder have nevertheless crept back into the U.S. system of laws under a new name. They're now called "Judicial Findings". A judge can, after a defendant has been found innocent, send him/her to prison anyway.
The politicians are unwilling to ban the practice because, well, they're super for locking up people who get in the way of their hegemony.
